Actress Mimi Rogers and NYPD Blue Star, Esai Morales, Help Ford Celebrate FutureTruck
HOLLYWOOD: Ford Motor Company’s effort to produce a more environmentally-friendly SUV got a boost from two Hollywood stars at a recent press conference in Santa Monica, California. Mimi Rogers (“Lost in Space”) and Esai Morales (“NYPD Blue”) were on hand to announce the winners of FutureTruck 2002. The event took place on June 21, 2002, at the Third Street Promenade.

FutureTruck is a competition among 300 of the best and brightest engineers from 15 North American Universities to explore advanced automotive technology. It challenges teams of students to reengineer a SUV so that it achieves higher fuel economy and lower emissions without sacrificing the performance, utility, safety, and affordability consumers want.

Teams received seed money, production vehicles and technical mentoring from sponsors during the nine months leading up to the competition. After months of preparation, teams members participated in eleven days of intense testing during the FutureTruck 2002 competition.

The Hollywood-Madison Group, a Los Angeles-based company specializing in celebrity endorsements and personal appearances was responsible for securing the artists. Both Ms. Rogers and Mr. Morales serve on the board of ECO (Earth Communications Office) a Hollywood environmental group.
