Brendan Fraser and Benicio Del Toro Among Celebrities Promoting The Getty Museum
HOLLYWOOD: Movie stars Brendan Fraser and Benicio Del Toro were among the celebrities who recorded special public service announcements promoting the “Photographers of Genius" exhibit at The Getty. The spots started airing in the Los Angeles market on March 16, 2004.

The radio campaign marks the first time a concerted effort is being made to the bridge the worlds of Hollywood and The Getty. Indeed, this is part of a new effort to bring arts and culture to a wider audience … people from all walks of life.

Celebrating 20 years of collecting photographs at the J. Paul Getty Museum, the new exhibition spotlights the genius of 38 seminal photographers selected from more than 600 represented in our archives. Photographers of Genius is the Getty’s spring Premiere Presentation, making it the most important show of the year.

From Hippolyte Bayard to Diane Arbus, the influential pioneers presented here will span more than a century of photography. Each advanced the art of photography and in the process brought about change in the history of art. Other artists whose works will be displayed, include: Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Eugène Atget, Julia Margaret Cameron, Walker Evans, André Kertész, Dorothea Lange, Man Ray, and Edward Weston. Others will be new even to experts.

The Hollywood-Madison Group, a Los Angeles-based company specializing in celebrity endorsements and personal appearances was responsible for securing the artists and producing the commercials.
