Actress Mimi Rogers and NYPD Blue Star, Esai Morales, Help Ford Celebrate FutureTruck

HOLLYWOOD: Ford Motor Company’s effort to produce a more environmentally-friendly SUV got a boost from two Hollywood stars at a recent press conference in Santa Monica, California. Mimi Rogers (“Lost in Space”) and Esai Morales (“NYPD Blue”) were on hand to announce the winners of FutureTruck 2002. The event took place on June 21, 2002, at the Third Street Promenade.

FutureTruck is a competition among 300 of the best and brightest engineers from 15 North American Universities to explore advanced automotive technology. It challenges teams of students to reengineer a SUV so that it achieves higher fuel economy and lower emissions without sacrificing the performance, utility, safety, and affordability consumers want.

Teams received seed money, production vehicles and technical mentoring from sponsors during the nine months leading up to the competition. After months of preparation, teams members participated in eleven days of intense testing during the FutureTruck 2002 competition.

The Hollywood-Madison Group, a Los Angeles-based company specializing in celebrity endorsements and personal appearances was responsible for securing the artists. Stratacomm Public Relations organized the event.

Patricia Heaton Helps Celebrate Bounty's "20 Billionth Roll"

HOLLYWOOD: "Everybody Loves Raymond" star, Patricia Heaton, was on hand in New York recently to help Bounty celebrate a milestone - the production of its 20 billionth roll of paper towel. To mark the occasion, Bounty threw a big bash for kids and their families at the Children's Museum of Contemporary Art on Tuesday, October 5, 1999.

Complete with cake and balloons, the party featured a punchbowl obstacle course, mural painting and other messy activities! With three young children and a strong sense of family, Ms. Heaton proved ideal as host/emcee.

The Hollywood-Madison Group, a Los Angeles-based company specializing in celebrity endorsements and personal appearances was responsible for securing Ms. Heaton. Manning, Selvage & Lee Chicago managed the campaign.

Jimmy Smits Launches General Motors' 'GMBuyPower.Com'

HOLLYWOOD: "NYPD Blue" star, Jimmy Smits, signed on to make a special appearance at the press launch for General Motors' BuyPower (www.GMBuyPower.com), a new service which allows consumers to shop for and purchase an automobile online. The event will take place on Wednesday, March 10, at the Drive-In Studios in New York City.

GM BuyPower is a Web-site that will give consumers access to all of the inventory in GM dealerships nationwide. To emphasize that message, GM is creating the world's largest "virtual" dealership at the press conference. Using the most advanced blue screen technology, GM will project Mr. Smits into a virtual reality showroom. He will act like a consumer researching his next car purchase online.

Mr. Smits agreed to participate in the launch because of GM's commitment to wire inner city schools to the Internet. This dedication to providing equal opportunities for intellectual growth and development for less-advantaged students is a strong component of the roll-out. Mr. Smits will also appear at a dedication ceremony at his high school alma mater.
